Limited information coming out on GM stores-Updated
May 15, 2009 by John Druien
Since GM stores are allowed to stay open 18 months, and actually not forced to close even if requested, unless GM files bankruptcy, the names of stores closing has been very limited. (GM did not terminate the franchise agreements like Chrysler did, but will not renew them?most expire in October, 2010) In the DFW area, the news has only revealed that Moritz in Arlington will be staying open.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal reported that 6 AutoNation GM stores were on the cut list, but did not reveal which stores.
Asbury Automotive has reported that they will be losing a Chevrolet and Pontiac, Buick, GMC store in Kissimmee, Florida.
Tom Sparks Buick, Dekalb, Illinois and The Reichert Automotive Group will shutter a store in a store in Crystal Lake and Woodstock, Illinois.
As more information becomes available, UpShift Digital?s team will add to the blog. Please pass on any detail that becomes available as well.
